About The School
Central Pennsylvania Diesel Institute provides quality, affordable education to all students interested in the Heavy-Duty Truck/Diesel Mechanic field. We’re more than just a place of learning. Our desire is to have a positive impact in the lives of our students by offering a solid education that produces a long-term, secure income.
Why Choose CPDI?
Since we are independently owned and operated, we can keep our curriculum flexible and responsive to industry standards, keep our classrooms small, and keep the cost of our program far lower than our competitors.

We have more then 25 years of experience
We are an intentionally small school that provides personalized attention for every student throughout our entire 630-hour, 9-month program. Our classes are small, with typically no more than 16 students per session, allowing everyone to receive the attention that they need.
Our campus is comprised of our General Admissions office, a theory classroom, a tool room and three large, hands-on shop areas where our students learn by working on diesel engines with our skilled trainer.
Our location in Liverpool, PA is in the heart of the state, and accessible to commuting students from some parts of New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and even Washington, DC.
Hours of Operation
Our normal hours of operation are from 11am to 9:30pm, Monday through Thursday.
Need assistance after hours? Let us know and we’ll set up an appointment at a time that works for you. We’re there for our students, no matter the time of day!
Classes meet from 5pm to 9:30 pm, Monday through Thursday (except for during scheduled/holiday breaks). Since our staff is small, please contact us prior to visiting so that we can be sure to accommodate your schedule.
Central Pennsylvania Diesel Institute LLC opened its doors in 2005. Since that time, hundreds of students have graduated successfully and gone on to lucrative careers as diesel mechanics.
Our Owner/Director Alan Yoder has been in the Diesel Field for over 30 years, and takes pride in his experience, his expertise, and in the school that he has built to allow new students to quality to work in the field that he loves. Through his years of service, Alan and CPDI have built relationships with some of the biggest names in the trucking industry who both contribute input into our curriculum (to keep it current), but also to connect our students with employers after graduation. This ensures that we keep our training up to the current standards of this fast-paced, always-changing (yet rewarding!) industry and that our students are ready to take on the field with skills that are current.
